Sometimes sleep comes easily for Sophie.
And sometimes she needs a little help.
“Not being able to sleep is terrible. You have the misery of having partied all night … without the satisfaction.” —Lynn Johnston
Even though Sophie’s too young to recognize a bedtime routine, we thought we’d still change her into pajamas and read her a bedtime story every night. Thanks to Grandma Uhl for the sleeper, and Alan and Melissa for the book, Kay Thompson’s Eloise!
“It is one of life’s bitterest truths that bedtime so often arrives just when things are really getting interesting.” —Lemony Snicket
Sophie’s first big outing was to Andy’s first softball game of the season. She rooted well because Andy’s team won!
Grandpa Gebhart and Nini came to see Andy play (although I think Sophie being there was a big incentive, too).
“A hot dog at the ballgame beats roast beef at the Ritz.” —Humphrey Bogart
Sophie had a lot of visitors her first month of life. Here she is with Nini,
and Grandpa Gebhart (on Reds opening day!),
and Aunt Katy,
and Uncle Tom,
and Grandma Uhl,
and Grandpa Uhl,
and Great Grandma Gebhart,
and Great Grandma Mangan.
Uncle Kyle and Aunt Liz are coming to visit soon!
“You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are
to them.” —Desmond Tutu
Welcome to our blog! It’s nothing fancy, just a way to keep family and friends updated, mostly with pictures. Here is Sophie on a warm spring day in our backyard. When I went into labor (March 30), bushes and trees were bare, and flowers could only be found in vases. Several days later, with a new family member in tow, we were pleasantly surprised to see tulips and daffodils in bloom.
“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” —Anne Bradstreet
