Bedtime Story

IMG_1815

Even though Sophie’s too young to recognize a bedtime routine, we thought we’d still change her into pajamas and read her a bedtime story every night. Thanks to Grandma Uhl for the sleeper, and Alan and Melissa for the book, Kay Thompson’s Eloise!

“It is one of life’s bitterest truths that bedtime so often arrives just when things are really getting interesting.” —Lemony Snicket

Mom and Her Bonnets

Seriously, Mom, I don’t want to wear this on our walk.

Somebody, please make her take it off.

A Dozen Roses

We were out of milk so Andy stopped at Trader Joe’s on his way home from work. In addition to the milk he bought Sophie her first dozen roses. She loves them.

“I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.” —Emma Goldman

Sleep Like a Baby

In addition to sleeping during the day and not at night, Sophie also likes to sleep on her side instead of her back.

“People who say they sleep like a baby usually don’t have one.” —Leo J. Burke

Take Me Out To the Ball Game

Sophie’s first big outing was to Andy’s first softball game of the season. She rooted well because Andy’s team won!

Grandpa Gebhart and Nini came to see Andy play (although I think Sophie being there was a big incentive, too).

Bath Time

We’re lucky. Sophie loves baths, except when we’re slow about it and the water begins to cool.

“I can’t think of any sorrow in the world that a hot bath wouldn’t help, just a little bit.” —Susan Glaspell

Here Comes the Sun

Welcome to our blog! It’s nothing fancy, just a way to keep family and friends updated, mostly with pictures. Here is Sophie on a warm spring day in our backyard. When I went into labor (March 30), bushes and trees were bare, and flowers could only be found in vases. Several days later, with a new family member in tow, we were pleasantly surprised to see tulips and daffodils in bloom.

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” —Anne Bradstreet
